绥德石雕工艺是陕西省榆林市绥德县的地方传统手工技艺。种类繁多，用途各异。其精湛的烧制技艺，不朽的艺术价值，充分体现了古代劳动人民的卓越才能和艺术创造力。
Suide stone carving is a local traditional skill in Suide County, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province. There are many kinds of carvings in Suide with different uses. Its exquisite firing skills and immortal artistic value, fully reflecting the ancient working people's outstanding talent and artistic creativity.

在中国的雕刻艺术中，常见的有木雕、砖雕、金雕等，但唯有陕北的石雕世代相传，经久不衰。因它源于生活，利益大众，用之普遍，不受拘泥，造型中表现的是一种自然的真情。纯朴真实，最能打动人。它是一门独特的民间艺术，既具地方性，又具民族性。仅绥德汉画像石中雕刻的纹样图案，就有极高的文史、艺术审美价值，无愧是中华民族文化艺术宝库中的珍贵遗产，堪称世界文物之精粹。
In Chinese carving art, wood carving, brick carving and gold carving are common, but only stone carving in northern Shaanxi has been handed down from generation to generation and is enduring. Because it comes from life amd is beneficial to the public.What's more,it is widely used and unconstrained, expressing a natural true feeling.Simplicity and truth move people the most. It is a unique folk art and has both local and national characteristics. Only the patterns carved in the Han dynasty stone portraits of Suide have high cultural, historical and artistic aesthetic value, which is worthy of being the precious heritage in the treasure trove of Chinese national culture and art, and can be called the essence of world.

历史渊源
绥德石雕艺术历史悠久，源远流长。据史料记载和实物考证，绥德石雕艺术的发展伴随着人类社会的进程，历经了原始时期的新旧石器生产和秦汉时期的发展，唐、宋、明、清时期的繁荣与新中国以来的鼎盛时期。
Suide stone carving art has a long history. According to historical records and physical research, the development of stone carving art in Suide accompanied with the progress of human society.And it experienced the production of new and old stone tools in the primitive period, the development of Qin and Han Dynasties, the prosperity of Tang, Song, Ming and Qing Dynasties and the peak period since the new China.
诸如原始时期的凿石狩猎新旧石器，秦时扶苏监军驻绥时“太子府”、“赏月台”遗址；现已出土的500多块东汉画像石以及至今残留保存的唐宋明清时期的庙宇石狮、旗杆、雕栏画栋、摩崖石刻等景观，都足以证明绥德石雕的源远流长，世代相传。
Such as the stone cutting and hunting of the old and new stone tools in the primitive period, the sites of "Prince's Mansion" and "Moon Viewing Platform" when the Fusu supervisory army was stationed in Suide in the Qin Dynasty;More than 500 stone reliefs of the Eastern Han Dynasty have been unearthed, as well as the remains of stone lions in temples, flagpoles, carved balustrades, cliff stone carvings and other landscapes in the Tang, song, Ming and Qing Dynasties, all of which are sufficient to prove that Suide stone carvings have a long history and have been handed down from generation to generation.
新中国建成以来，绥德石雕艺术的发展，也有兴衰之期。十年“文革”期，许多珍贵的石雕工艺被毁坏，建筑被拆除，工匠被迫停了手艺。十一届三中全会以来，国家出台了一系列关于挖掘、抢救、保护民族优秀民间文化的政策和措施，才使得一些濒临危亡的民间优秀文化得以幸存和保护。
Since the founding of New China, the development of Suide stone carving art also experienced ups and downs. During the ten years of the Cultural Revolution, many precious stone carving techniques were destroyed, buildings were torn down and artisans were forced to stop working. Since the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee, our country has issued a series of policies and measures on the excavation, rescue and protection of national excellent folk culture, so that some of the endangered folk culture can be protected.
1986年，绥德县在优秀民间文化的普查中，受到广泛关注，也为绥德石雕事业发展带来机遇。新世纪初，绥德县实施城镇带动战略工程以来，石雕工艺的发展再次得到促进，许多绥德石匠投入到了如火如荼的城镇建设中，创造出了石雕工艺一个又一个奇迹。新建的“神龙大道” “石牌楼”等石雕建筑，再次展示了绥德石雕工艺的博大精深。2003年绥德县被陕西省人民政府命名为“石雕艺术之乡”。
In 1986, Suide County was widely concerned in the general survey of excellent folk culture, which also brought opportunities for the development of stone carving in Suide.At the beginning of the new century, since the implementation of Suide County driven strategic project, it promoted the development of stone carving technology again.Many Suide stonemasons devoted themselves to the construction of the town and created many miracles in stone carving.The newly built stone carving buildings, such as "Shenlong Avenue" and "Stone Archway" once again show the broad and profound stone carving technology of Suide. In 2003, Suide County was named the "Hometown of Stone Carving Art" by People's Government of Shaanxi Province.
